Weekly roundup 21st June

Wow what a week , a week since Coast was one.

What a whilewind… I feel like time is the strangest it’s ever been. I feel like the days are dragging and have 19384 hours , but the weeks are flying. It’s almost July and official summer holidays ( not that it really matters or makes a difference at this point).

We’ve had a great time baking with the CakeCraftWorld rocket boxes. I adore this chocolate mix , you only need to add water but it’s still so moist and scrumptious. This style cake cases are great too because they don’t need to go in a muffin tray & are sturdy enough to pick up and hold. I think they’re much better for little hands to use. We also got some of the vanilla biscuit mix in this box. I use this mix a lot with the kids as it mostly holds it’s shape and needs very little adding to it. Its not as perfect for shape holding if your want a good match up and precise sizes but its perfect for kids and last minute batches.

I’ve had my calligraphy set out again too… After a stressful and worrying few weeks of Isabelles hospital appointments i’ve not really had any me time….so I really wanted to start again this week. I’ve always wanted to learn calligraphy and improve my handwriting in general. I can’t even read my own shopping lists , which when you can only go to the supermarket once a week , really isn’t great. I’ve always loved those beautiful gift tags you see at Christmas with gold ink , so beautifully handwritten. So even if I can only learn to write my children’s names by December I’ll be really pleased. We’ve worked with away with words calligraphy before and everything she produces is just stunning & this kit is no exception. I really love the hand written small pieces , such as the name tag and nib card… but for me , the online video tutorial was just the cherry on the cake. to be able to actually see how to hold the pen and what to do made much for sense than just reading from a flat sheet and trying to copy. At £40 it’ s a really nice gift , especially at a time where we have more time than ever. ( this kit was gifted with no obligation to share , I genuinely support , love and would purchase this set because it’s just perfect )

This week has been a huge gutting of the house too. Over the next 2 months the upstairs of our home is having a huge transformation so I’ve been sorting through all the clothes, cupboards and wardrobes like a crazy woman. But we’ve had some hilarious trips to the clothes banks and recycling centres …. including a lucky passing by McDonalds with NO LONG QUE … so the kids were made up with that. If you follow us on instagram you’ll of seen the massive amount of crates I bought from Hema. The new letter board versions are just great and are so versatile for so many uses. We’ve used ours for the kids rooms until the new wardrobes are built and then they’ll go in there… But I’m ordering some for the kitchen and my baking things , and some for my new blogging and desk space ( watch out for that ).

On Saturday I popped to meadow hall, what a treat. So far we’ve avoided everywhere and anywhere , but I just needed a break. After being trapped in the house for 3 months with the kids I just wanted an hour to myself and to get out … While i was really anxious it made me feel so much better. And despite the line to get in , it was actually all really respectfully distanced and felt really … fine. We’re supposed to be going to London for my 30th next month but I’m not sure if it will go ahead yet , I’m keeping everything crossed. It was nice to go buy something that wasn’t ‘ essential ‘ after no shopping trips for long. I nabbed the perfect hat that I’ve been looking for , for months too. So I’m super happy i braved the trip.

Fathers Day was just a lovely day , We saw Grandad ( my Father in Law) and spoilt the special men in our lives. Marlowe and Liberty woke up really early to give Tobias his gifts and preceded to describe to him, the cards he would be receiving from everyone and the pictures before he could get to them ( thanks girls). Sunday evening is when all the bigs come home too so its a big family meal and fresh Pjs laid out kind of day.

I hope your week was wonderful and I look forward to next weeks catch up. Until then , here’s my quick favorites from the week
